The company takes pride in its innovative designs, successful building solutions and holds a strong commitment to delivering building excellence, which is all about ensuring quality, attention to detail and commitment to completing the task on time - and on budget.

A C Builders are registered Master Builders and are acknowledged as having attained a high level of skill in the building trade, expected by the stringent membership criteria set down by the Master Builders Federation.

A C Builders have established ourselves in many facets of the building industry, from residential design and build, renovations and extensions and small commercial and community funded projects, and our newest venture for 2009, creating unique house and land packages. We have the capacity and resources to design, construct and manage any given project within the Golden Bay region.

Managing Directors Alan and Liz Clingan are 100% passionate about the building industry and have built up a team of staff to support their vision of producing quality homes while growing the business.

Alan gained his qualification as Builder and Carpenter in the early 1980s in the small town of Sleaford in the UK. After completing his building and carpentry apprenticeship, he built residential homes for large building companies, latterly claiming great accolade from his reputation for outstanding quality and exceptional attention to detail. The company he ran as construction manager won a Gold Award in the British House Builders Awards - with the company director paying tribute to Alan being instrumental in winning that award.

Upon the family's decision to move to New Zealand, former employers paid tribute to Alan in the local newspaper, stating that: "Alan will be a massive loss to the company. His tireless efforts have been instrumental in maintaining our high standards. I can't emphasis enough how much this is a team award and of that team, he is a major influence". (Nick Allen, Chanceoption Homes). It is these attributes of his commitment to maintaining high standards that he brings to his own company as Managing Director in Golden Bay.

The quality and attention to detail is prevalent throughout the whole team, with Managing Director and Project Manager, Liz running the heart of the business. With a background in business management and social work, and a BA in Sociology, Liz has the attributes and skills to be able to offer clients a caring and professional service. Liz also offers her design expertise as part of the initial consultation process that she and Alan offer every client.

A major benefit for all clients is that from the moment they contact A C builder, it is only Liz and Alan they will need to deal with. They sit down with clients for as long as it takes to establish their needs. They will personally attend initial site meetings to investigate building and design options, discuss the preliminary designs, and initiate the services of an architect or draughtsperson to prepare the preliminary sketch drawings. It is Liz and Alan who will present the design, source materials and keep clients informed of progress during the entire building process. Working closely with professionals, suppliers, contractors and the client to ensure no details are overlooked ensuring the finished result often exceeds execrations.

Through the extensive use of e-mail, Liz is able to communicate to owners and developers around the country and world wide. With regular updates, and by the use of digital photography absentee clients can be kept up to date with their project. A number of past projects being built in Golden Bay have been for clients that spend a lot of time overseas, Liz has corresponded with them, keeping then informed on progress, answered their questions and dealt with variations.
